hanks to everyone who replied to Gary Grif昀th9s article
about the H 20 markings on his 1975 MkIII Norton. The
following is the summary of responses. The only pattern that is
certain is that the stamps were added somewhere between serial
number 328680 and 329569 a
span of 889 units. Anything
above that range had the H 20
stamp on the front primary side
case.
An interesting exception was
from Rick Lozinski who had an
H 22 stamp on his motorcycle..
Curious, I spent probably too
much time investigating what I
could on the internet including
using ChatGPT to see what I
could come up with. The AI tool
apparently scanned many of
the Norton forums looking for
an answer. I kept asking follow
up questions and it responded
with plenty of information that
was all starting to repeat itself.
