I wanted a ‘昀氀ashing’ brake light for enhanced visibility.
I tried the $10.00 Chinese modules and they were crap. Alan
found this unit from Timers Shop ( https://timers.shop )
‘Made in USA’ and I bought one. I
bought the X1 module as it
was readily available.
Programming looked
daunting at 昀椀rst but
really isn’t. The unit is
rock
solid.
The
accompanying photo
and video show my
temporary hook up.
Since the output of
the module is + 12 vdc
I use a relay to send 12 vdc to the brake
light. Many parameters
are
programmable.
Currently I have mine set
for 6 fast 昀氀ashes after which it
goes solid. I have a 10 second
delay
programmed so the light doesn’t blink if actuated within 10
seconds of initial braking. This reduces annoyance to
following drivers and them getting used to the 昀氀ashing and
perhaps ignoring it.
Number of 昀氀ashes, 昀氀ash rate, reapplication delay, and a
further incrementation of the delay with every brake press
are programmable.
Happy braking.
