or some reason this article
missed the 200th issue, it's all
good because #201 will do nicely.
# 200 was de昀椀nitely an
achievement and a milestone, the
question for all classic clubs and
magazines is how many more
milestones are there for us with our
mostly aging memberships, my motto
is that it's better to burn out than fade
away
My own small rally in Williams
Lake BC was attended by our usual small group who all get
on really great with each other and revel in gear head
conversation. This year we had no sponsorship, l cut back on
the portable toilet to make a saving, they charge an arm and
a leg to rent them these days and never pick them up for
three weeks after the event, imagine what they would say if l
charged them for storage. There was a huge difference at the
rally this year in that everyone took it upon themselves to
help with everything involved, it absolutely added to the
event. Thanks to everyone it was wonderful.
A big issue over the years has been that some people
and friends who attend aren't club members, l have been
through this for many years and used to give people a hard
time, at this stage of the game l'm just happy that we all have
a good time, there have been countless speeches at events
about joining our clubs, l really don't care anymore and am
just happy to have a good time and welcome everyone that
attends, regardless of club dues, personally l would much
rather drink beer and share stories. I will never again ask any
club for sponsorship, it has caused too much friction over the
years, if l come out on top 昀椀nancially that's great, if l don't,
that's ok as well, money isn't as important as the spirit of the
event.
I'm in the process of loading my commando to take to
Arizona, my 昀椀fth consecutive trip, l have my trailer 昀椀tted out
as a mobile workshop and take lots of tools and spare parts,
my logic is that if l take everything, l won't need it.
I just retiming the engine as the timing had moved
